Crawfordsville is located in the valley of the Callapooia, six miles above Brownsville.  The situation is a very pretty one, but the population of the village is small.  There is one church, owned by the people and free to all denominations.  There are two substantial school houses in the district, and the number of pupils is about 120.  The valley is about two miles wide, and the land is very rich and productive.
